Peter Coelestin Pflauder was born as the son of Tobias Pflauder in Grän near Tannheim. Pflauder learned the art of plastering a. a. in Prague, Vienna, Berlin and Potsdam. In 1776 he came to Salzburg under Prince Archbishop Hieronymus Colloredo and was appointed "court stuccoer". His work can be found in the archbishop's palaces and castles, in churches and monasteries in and around Salzburg. He made numerous plaster busts of ancient figures based on Roman originals, which (some of them bronzed) were offered for sale in 1798. He worked u. a. in the Baron Rehlingschen building, in the court pharmacy, in the houses of the Gschwendner and Weiser merchant families.

Pflauder's first wife, Rosine (1726–1786), also came from Tyrol and worked as a draftsman and designer of gypsum marble. She repaired the badly damaged gypsum marble in the Nepomuk Chapel in Mirabell Palace . On January 26, 1790, he married his second wife Magdalena Greitner in Mülln. With her he had two sons: Alois and Johann. Alois Wilhelm (born December 19, 1790; † February 1878) was a teacher at the normal (sample) secondary school in Salzburg and died in Mülln. Both also worked as plasterers in their father's profession.
