Peter Quantschnigg

Peter Quantschnigg (born May 26, 1955 in Vienna ; † March 26, 2009 ) was an Austrian tax law expert.

Life

Quantschnigg graduated in 1973 in a Viennese Bundesrealgymnasium . On May 2, 1974, he began his professional activity in the income tax office of the Vienna Tax Office for the II. And XX. District. As a sideline, he studied law from 1974 to 1978 and attended specialist courses at the finance school. After a brief activity as a criminal consultant, he moved to the Federal Ministry of Finance in 1980 and worked in the specialist departments for procedural law, income tax and corporation tax. In 1989 he was appointed head of the tax policy department. With effect from January 1, 2005, Quantschnigg was appointed Secretary General of the Federal Ministry of Finance. He held this position until June 2008 and from 2006 until his death, Quantschnigg was Section Head of Section VI of the Ministry of Finance.

Quantschnigg a teaching license had as lecturers receive financial law in Vienna in 1995 and from 2003 to 2004, he practiced as a visiting professor at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz from.

In addition to numerous other works, Quantschnigg, together with Wilhelm Schuch, wrote the "Income Tax Handbook" published in 1993 - a commentary on the Austrian Income Tax Act (EStG 1988), which is still considered one of the standard works on this law today.
