Peter Rochhaus

Peter Rochhaus (* 1958 in Bad Frankenhausen ) is a German museologist and art historian .

After a traineeship at the Kreisheimatmuseum in Bad Frankenhausen, Rochhaus studied from 1978 to 1981 at the specialist school for museologists in Leipzig . He then worked at the Panorama Museum in Bad Frankenhausen until 1984 . From 1984 to 2002 he was head of the Adam Ries Museum in Annaberg-Buchholz . During this time he completed a distance learning course at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in the art history department to become an art historian with a degree in philology. further. Since 2002 he has been working as a freelancer and since 2011 he has been working on the “ General Artists Dictionary ” published by De Gruyter . In addition, from 1999 to 2002 he was responsible for recording the works of the Annaberg painter, graphic artist and designer Rudolf Manuwald (1916–2002).

So far he has published 17 books and brochures as well as around 500 newspaper and magazine articles, including on Adam Ries and his time, Rudolf Köselitz , the art and culture of the Ore Mountains and his hometown Bad Frankenhausen.

Honors

In 1998 he received a certificate from the city of Annaberg-Buchholz as “recognition of outstanding achievements in the field of publication 1997”.
