Peter Schmidt (handball player)

Peter Schmidt (* 1970 in Brandenburg an der Havel ) is a former German handball player on the circle runner position .

He played for SV 63 Brandenburg-West from 1980 to 1983 , then attended the children's and youth sports school in Berlin until 1986 . In Berlin he played from 1986 to 1989 in the youth league Berlin, from 1989 to 1990 in the second division, from 1990 to 1992 in the upper division and then in the double-track first division for Frankfurt / O. From 1992 to 1998 he was active at SC Empor Rostock in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga , from 1998 to 2001 at Stralsund HV in the 2nd Bundesliga. From here he moved to Usedom in 2001 for HSV Blau Weiß Insel Usedom , for which he played in the regional league and the 2nd Bundesliga until 2006 . From 2006 until his injury-related retirement in 2007, he was then active at HC Empor Rostock .

Peter Schmidt has played 29 international matches in the youth and junior national team of the GDR and took part in the youth competitions of friendship in 1988 with the GDR youth national team in Pyongyang and in 1989 in Leningrad (3rd place). He also won the Partille Cup in 1990 with the GDR junior national team.
