Peter Schott the Younger (* July 9, 1460 in Strasbourg ; † September 12, 1490 there ) was a German jurist , theologian and humanist .
Life
The son of Peter Schott the Elder studied in Paris and Bologna, among others. In 1480 he became a doctor of both rights in Bologna, but he turned to theology. In 1482 he became a priest and canon at Jung St. Peter in Strasbourg. In 1490 he succumbed to the plague and, already ill, joined the Carthusian Order . .
Above all in the Lucubraciunculae published by Jakob Wimpfeling in 1498, the writings preserved by him have come down to us. The letters contained there are the oldest correspondence published in print by a German humanist.
According to a plaque in Jung St. Peter, Strasbourg, he was friends with Johann Geiler von Kaysersberg .
