Peter Schubert (set designer)

Peter Schubert (* 1959 in Leinefelde ) is a set and costume designer and professor for set and costume design at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art .

biography

Peter Schubert studied stage and costume design at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art from 1982 to 1987 and graduated with a diploma . During his studies his first theater work took place with Frank Castorf in Jena.

Since 1987 he has been working as a freelance set and costume designer at various theaters in Germany and abroad. Among other things:

with Frank Castorf at the Deutsches Theater Berlin , the Volksbühne Berlin and the Schauspiel Hamburg
with Ruth Berghaus at the Berlin State Opera , the Freie Volksbühne Berlin , the Thalia Theater Hamburg , the Graz Opera , the Bonn Theater , the Semperoper Dresden and the Stuttgart State Opera
with Thomas Langhoff at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin , the Volksoper Vienna , the Berliner Ensemble , the Residenztheater Munich and the Burgtheater Vienna
with Claus Peymann and Adolf Dresen at the Burgtheater Vienna
with Armin Petras at the Volksbühne Berlin and the Schauspiel Hannover
with Sebastian Hartmann at the Volksbühne Berlin, the Schauspiel Basel and the Burgtheater Vienna
with Sebastian Baumgarten at the Mainz Opera and the Stuttgart Theater

Peter Schubert worked as a director at the Graz Theater , the Nuremberg Opera and the Potsdam Theater . He designed numerous theater posters, including for the season 91/92 at the Schauspiel Bonn and for the season 92/93 at the Schauspiel Dresden.

From 2006 to 2009 Peter Schubert was a lecturer for stage design / costume at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. Since 1998 he has been a professor of stage and costume design at the Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin.
