Peter Schulze (music journalist)

Peter Schulze (* 1947 ) is a German music journalist and producer .

From 1968 Schulze studied composition and sound engineer in Berlin . Since 1970 he has worked as a jazz and pop editor and producer at Radio Bremen . In 1998 he became head of music at Radio Bremen 2 until the end of the cultural program in 2001 .

Between 2003 and 2007 Schulze was Artistic Director of the JazzFest Berlin . From 2005 to 2010 he was a board member of the Europe Jazz Network , an association of European jazz organizers. In 2005 he first became artistic advisor and since 2013 one of the two artistic directors of the jazzahead trade fair event . In 2002 he was the founding chairman and has since been chairman of the Friends of the Broadcasting Hall , which has been fighting for many years to prevent the demolition of the historically and acoustically significant hall in Bremen and has been operating it as a broadcasting hall since 2009.

With Klaus Kuhnke and Manfred Miller (with whom he worked at Radio Bremen from the late 1960s) he was one of the founders of the Klaus Kuhnke Archive for Popular Music (formerly Archive for Popular Music) in Bremen in 1975 .

He is the father of the actor Moritz Zielke .

Awards

In February 2020 Schulze was for his commitment to the Norwegian Jazz by King Harald V with the Norwegian Order of Merit as a Knight First Class excellent.
