The trade fair
As an international jazz industry meeting , jazzahead! from the modules trade fair and showcase festival. In 2019 over 3,400 specialist participants and exhibiting companies from 64 nations took part. A total of 18,114 visitors (2018: 17,362) experienced the fair and the around 100 concerts on the fair weekend, including a. in showcases and CLUBNIGHT.
The jazzahead! festival
In addition to the international jazz trade fair, jazzahead! in the city of Bremen and is the engine for a festival that starts about two weeks before the trade fair. In this festival the cultural scene of an annually changing partner country in Bremen is shown.
The program is concentrated on the weekend of the trade fair: the showcase concerts are also open to the general public (not just for trade visitors), the gala concert shows jazz greats from the partner country and jazzahead! Clubnight (since 2011, previously 2011–2014 jazzahead! ŠKODA clubnight) takes place in numerous venues (2019: 34) in Bremen.
The jazz festival offers a few well-known names as well as young band projects and young artists in numerous concerts that have not yet been implemented on the market.

Since 2011 jazzahead! Every year a country has the opportunity to present itself with its jazz and cultural scene in Bremen. A cultural festival lasting several weeks is organized with numerous cultural institutions in the region.

German Jazz Expo and Prize for German Jazz Journalism
Since 2012, all measures to better network the German jazz scene inside and outside Germany have been taking place at jazzahead! under the label German Jazz Expo. In addition to the eight showcase concerts, this also includes a central trade fair presence, the German Market. The German Jazz Expo also includes other program content related to the German jazz scene - e.g. B. certain panels on topics that are of topicality, especially for the German participants, or the biennial prize for German jazz journalism.
Since 2012, the Dr. EA Langner Foundation , endowed with € 5,000, awarded the "Prize for German Jazz Journalism".

For the export of German jazz at jazzahead !, Messe Bremen has received federal funding since 2015.
jazzahead! Award
The jazzahead! Award , endowed with 15,000 euros , honored outstanding personalities in the international industry who have made a special contribution to jazz as a cultural asset. This jazz prize was sponsored by the Škoda until 2014 .
