Klaus Kuhnke

Klaus Kuhnke (born November 4, 1944 in Rerik ; † March 17, 1988 in the Canary Islands ) was one of the co-founders of the Archive for Popular Music in Bremen .

Life

Kuhnke grew up in Hamburg , where he studied German and philosophy .

From 1969 he worked as an editor (including the old bad songs - songs and poems of the revolution of 1848 and the children's song collection Baggerführer Willibald ), as a radio and television journalist and as an editor and author of the magazine Art and Society . He was co-author of the more than 100-part radio series Roll Over Beethoven (RB / WDR ) and the 10-part television series Rock'n'Roll Music ( NDR ).

In 1975 he founded the Popular Music Archive with Manfred Miller and Peter Schulze .

Klaus Kuhnke drowned in 1988. After his death, the archive was renamed the Klaus Kuhnke Archive for Popular Music and is now an institute at the University of the Arts in Bremen . Part of Kuhnke's bequests can be found in the Klaus Kuhnke Archive for Popular Music and in the Archive of Social Movements in Bremen.
