He became known through books in which he documented insider trading by Washington politicians, for example, and a book Clinton Cash , in which he investigates the interweaving of the Clinton clan and its foundation with lobbyist interests. The book covers, among other things, the case of Marc Rich, who was pardoned by Bill Clinton in 2001, and donations from the Ericsson company to the Clintons in order to obtain an exemption from the sanctions rules for trade with Iran, among other things. Other examples are the donations from Mohammed Hussein Al Amoudi and Uranium One . He accuses the Clintons of corruption in the context of donations to their foundation and exorbitantly high donations, which are disguised as fees for lectures.

He published two novels with the former Defense Minister Caspar Weinberger . He published about the Bush dynasty and the interdependence of politics and business at Jeb Bush .

His articles have appeared in the New York Times , Wall Street Journal , Foreign Affairs , Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times , among others .
