Peter Spannring

Peter Spannring (born August 19, 1941 in St. Gallenkirch ) is a former Austrian politician of the SPÖ and an employee of the Chamber. From 1976 to 1987 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

After attending primary school in St. Gallenkirch, Spannring attended secondary school in Schruns and then graduated from commercial school in Bregenz from 1955 to 1957 . As a result, he had several short-term jobs until 1958 and then attended the workers' secondary school in Innsbruck and Graz between 1958 and 1963 and passed his Matura in Graz in 1963 . In 1963 he began studying law at the University of Innsbruck , which he in 1969 with the graduation graduated to Master of Law (Mag. Jur.). In addition to his studies, between 1964 and 1969 he worked as a teacher for commercial subjects at the Villach vocational school. In 1969, Spannring took up a position as an education officer at the Vorarlberg Chamber of Labor and worked in this position until his retirement in May 2002.

Politics and functions

From 1959, Spannring became a member of the Association of Socialist Students in Austria and joined the SPÖ in 1961. In 1964 he also became a member of the public service union and from 1984 to around 1993 served as works council chairman for the employees of the Feldkirch Chamber of Labor. From 1999 to 2002 he was also the national spokesman for the works councils of the Austrian Chamber of Labor. Within the party, he acted as chairman of the SPÖ Bludenz at the district level, and was also a member of the state party executive of the SPÖ Vorarlberg. Spannring held the function of a member of the state party leadership and the state party presidium in the SPÖ Vorarlberg, was a youth officer from 1970 to 1978 and then an education officer and also worked as a member of the SPÖ's federal education committee.

Spannring was involved in local politics from 1970 to 1985 as a member of the city council of Bludenz, and as a member of the Bludenz constituency he represented the SPÖ from December 15, 1976 until his resignation on January 7, 1987 in the state parliament.

In addition to his political functions, Spannring was also active as the regional chairman of the Friends of Nature Vorarlberg from 1998 to 2004. He was also a member of the St. Gallenkirch pensioners' association, member of the board of the state school board and member of the board of the educational academy.

Private

Peter Spannring was born the son of the Styrian shoemaker Stefan Spannring and his Tyrolean-born wife Anna Spannring. He married Waldtraud Theisinger in 1965 and had a daughter in 1967.
