Peter Swanwick

Peter Swanwick (born September 29, 1922 in Nottingham , † November 14, 1968 in London ) was a British actor .

Life

Swanwick made his acting debut in 1950 in the feature film Lilli Marlene , which was remake in 1981 by Rainer Werner Fassbinder . In the following year he played a small role as a German officer in African Queen alongside Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn . In the 1950s and 1960s he played guest roles in television series, as well as various minor supporting roles in feature films. The serious-looking, bald actor was often seen in roles as an authority figure.

He played his best known role between 1967 and 1968 as a supervisor in Patrick McGoohan's cult series number 6 . Swanwick, who had been married to Nellie Walton since 1950, died after lengthy health problems in November 1968 at the age of only 46.
