Peter Taylor (film editor)

Peter John Brough Taylor (born February 28, 1922 in Portsmouth , Hampshire , England , † December 17, 1997 in Rome ) was a British film editor who won the Academy Award for Best Editing in 1958 .

Life

Taylor began his career in the film industry as an assistant editor on the war film In Which We Serve (1942) and worked on the editing of more than forty films by 1991 .

At the Academy Awards in 1958, he won the Oscar for Best Editing for The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) by David Lean with Alec Guinness , William Holden and Jack Hawkins in the lead roles .
