Peter Texier

Joseph Peter Texier , also Pierre Texier (born March 23, 1738 in Hamburg , † March 30, 1818 in Hamburg-Altona ) was a diplomat of German origin in the Dutch and Danish services.

Life

Peter Texier was the son of Bernhard Texier and Louise, a daughter of Claude Guillaumot de la Bergerie .

As legation secretary, Texier represented the Dutch envoy in Hamburg from 1754 to 1756. Texier was secretary of the Dutch embassy in Lisbon in 1756 , in 1758 in the same position in Copenhagen and from 1760 to 1762 secretary to the Dutch envoy Jan Jacob Mauricius (1692–1768) in Hamburg . In 1763 he entered the service of Heinrich Carl von Schimmelmann . In May 1768 he accompanied King Christian VII on his trip abroad as treasurer. In 1769 he received the title of ambassador, in 1774 he became auditor general of the royal. Lottery and its first administrator in 1775, Danish consul in Danzig in 1777, and first director of the royal family in 1782. Trade and sewer company in Altona . Over the years he has made numerous trips to find investment opportunities for the Danish state, mainly to the Netherlands. In 1805 he became a secret legation councilor, and in 1815 he took leave of his post of director of the royal. dan. Fisheries and Trade Institute in Altona. In 1809 he was awarded the Dannebrog Order .

In 1780 he married Marguerite Godeffroy (1755-1804), a daughter of Cesar Godeffroy (1706-1758) . In 1781 the daughter Louise Janette was born, who later married the scientist Johann Gottfried Schmeisser (1767–1837). After the death of his wife, Peter Texier entered into a second marriage with Fräulein Plohr in 1807.

Joseph Peter (Pierre) had a brother Peter (Pierre) Texier (1716–1791). He was a merchant and was appointed broker / auctioneer in Hamburg in 1765 . He was married to Marie Jacobée Chaunel (1726–1813), a daughter of the merchant and banker Jean Pierre Chaunel (1703–1789) and his wife Marie Jacobée Boué (1712–1730).
