Peter Wörster

Peter Wörster (born October 30, 1950 in Siegen ) is a German historian and archivist .

Life

Peter Wörster studied history , Slavic studies and education at the University of Marburg . In 1976 he passed the state examination for high school teachers . 1993 was followed by the promotion of Dr. phil. In 1976/77 he worked at the Institute for Slavic Philology at the University of Marburg and then from 1977 until his retirement at the end of February 2016 at the Herder Institute in Marburg. There he was in charge of the document collection, the largest archive on Baltic history in Germany. His main areas of work are the past and present of Königsberg and Kaliningrad , the period of humanism (15th / 16th century) in Olomouc and Moravia (with connections to Silesia , Poland , Austria and Hungary ) and the history of the Baltic States .

The archive managed by him and Dorothee M. Goeze received the Hessian Archive Prize in 2009 .
