Life

Peter Wilhelm Millowitsch was born in a house in Düsseldorf that is known today as the Altbier brewery Zum Uerige . In memory of him and the Millowitsch dynasty of actors , a bronze plaque was placed next to the entrance door.

His father was Wilhelm Josef Millowitsch (1854–1909), who in 1895 converted the Millowitsch Theater (at that time in Schildergasse in Cologne ) from stick puppets to real actors. From 1920 Peter Wilhelm took over the management of the house from his mother Emma, who had run the theater since 1909. Because of the economic crisis, Millowitsch was forced to play in constantly changing locations, for example at the Wuppertal Rex Theater . In 1936 he settled at the current location in Aachener Strasse No. 5, the former "Colonia Hall", near Rudolfplatz in Cologne. In 1940 his son Willy took over the management of the house on his own.

Peter Wilhelm Millowitsch was married to the Viennese actress Katharina "Käthe" Luise Plank (1881–1942) since 1905 . His sister-in-law was the actress and singer Cordy Millowitsch . His children Willy and Lucy Millowitsch were also actors. After the war, they ran their father's theater together for many years. His grandchildren Peter and Mariele Millowitsch also learned acting. Peter Millowitsch ran the theater.

Peter Wilhelm Millowitsch died in Remagen in 1945. His grave is in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne .
