Peter von Burgsdorff
Peter von Burgsdorff (* before 1424; † 1439 in Fürstenwalde / Spree ) was a German Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Lebus .
Life
Peter came from the noble family Burgsdorff in the Lebuser Land and was cathedral dean in Lebus . Although he from his cathedral chapter had been elected in 1424 as bishop, he could not against him Christoph von Rotenhan , the candidate of the Brandenburg electors I. Friedrich prevail. After Rotenhan's death, the cathedral chapter re-elected Peter von Burgsdorff. The papal confirmation of January 9, 1437 was followed by the consecration by the Brandenburg Bishop Stephan Bodecker in the Fürstenwalder Cathedral.
During Burgsdorff's tenure, the Carthusian monastery and its monastery church in Frankfurt (Oder) , which had been destroyed in the Hussite Wars , were rebuilt and consecrated by him.
