Peterheinrich Kirchhoff (born June 6, 1886 in Pasel near Plettenberg , † June 16, 1973 in Werdohl ) was a German entrepreneur and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Kirchhoff attended the conservatory, entered civil service in 1906 and worked as a music teacher and choir director until 1914. He took part in the First World War as a soldier from 1914 to 1918 , served as a lieutenant in the artillery and was awarded the Iron Crosses 1st and 2nd class. After the end of the war, he joined the companies Rötelmann & Co., Werdohl (fittings factory), Gebr. Rötelmann, Werdohl (trading company) and Rötelmann & Asbeck, Gevelsberg . In the following years he rose to become an independent entrepreneur and manufacturer. He was also a member of the extended board of the Association of German Mechanical Engineering Companies.

In 1963 Kirchhoff was one of the founders of the "Lennetaler Jugend- und Volksmusikwerk eV", today's Lennetal Music School. He headed the sponsoring association from its foundation until 1969.

politics

After the Second World War, Kirchhoff co-founded the CDU in the Altena district and was elected district chairman of the CDU Altena-Lüdenscheid in 1946. Since 1945 he has been a city ​​councilor in Werdohl and chairman of the local culture committee. From May 1949 to October 1950 he was mayor of the city of Werdohl. In addition, he was a member of the Altena district council and acted there as deputy district administrator . Kirchhoff was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1961 as a directly elected member of the Altena-Lüdenscheid constituency .
