The Peters Fluss-Seeschiff , also known colloquially as Peters Seeschlange , is a series-built coaster of the Rhine and canal from the Peterswerft in Wewelsfleth.

history

The Christa Schütt was delivered by the shipyard on January 31, 1979 as the type ship of the series. By October 1986, 38 more river seagoing vessels with the same hull length were built, based on this basic type, which was around 82.45 m long (76.80 m Lpp, 77.35 m registered length). With a total of 39 units, the basic type is one of the most successful designs from Peterswerft. The ships are mainly used on combined inland and coastal services for small and medium-sized voyages. The individual ships differ, depending on the variant, in the type and height of the superstructures, differently designed stems , the equipment and other special features with which they were tailored to the respective mission.

In addition to the 39 ships of the basic type, the shipyard built a total of 15 other river and seagoing ships by October 1992. First, in December 1982, the Uranos (hull number 594) was a single building that was extended to a total of 93.60 m. In December 1986 the shipyard delivered the Petersberg (hull number 624) and in April 1987 the Süllberg (hull number 605) two units shortened to 72.00 m. From December 1987 to September 1988 four 73.85 m long river-seagoing vessels of the Arklow M-class were completed. From January 1989 to October 1992 eight 88.25 m long Arklow V class ships followed .

technology

The Anke-Angela with a fixed deckhouse

The hulls were assembled in sectional construction. The vast majority of the ships in the series are equipped with a lift bridge and folding masts. Because of the height-adjustable bridge, they are also referred to as "sea snakes". In addition, a Rhine-See variant was also created, which has fixed superstructures with only folding masts. These ships include the Elbe (construction number 578), the Claudia-Isabell (construction number 598), the Georg Lührs (construction number 611) and the Boberg (construction number 619).

The box-shaped cargo space with a volume of 2444 m³ is reinforced for the transport of containers and heavy goods and has four movable bulkheads that can also be used as an intermediate deck. Depending on the design, hydraulic folding hatch covers or stackable so-called “piggy-back” hatch covers were installed. The ships were delivered to the shipyard without loading gear , but individual ships received two laterally attached cranes, others a side loader for handling paper.

Most of the ships in the series are powered by a 4- stroke diesel engine that acts on a controllable pitch propeller via a reduction gear . The ships received various propulsion systems. For example, engine models from various manufacturers were installed in the series.
