Location from Petit St. Vincent (in the south) to other Grenadines |
The island of Petit St. Vincent (" Little St. Vincent ") is part of the Grenadines , a group of islands within the Lesser Antilles . The island belongs to the administrative district of the Grenadines in the state of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and is the southernmost island of this state.
In the south, the neighboring island of Petite Martinique , which already belongs to Grenada, is only 725 meters away .
The 46 hectare green island is characterized by three hills and three kilometers of beaches. Coral banks lie off the coast. The island once belonged to the Archbishop of Trinidad and is now privately owned, 80 people live here permanently. Tourism is the only industry in the form of the Petit Saint Vincent Resort . One kilometer northwest of the island is the Mopion sandbank . The mini-island, only equipped with a straw parasol, is part of the holiday resort and is used as a bathing beach.
A few kilometers north are the Tobago Cays , which are particularly popular with sailors .
