Petr Bakalář

Petr Bakalář (born January 27, 1970 in Prague ) is a Czech publicist and psychologist who had published some controversial works in the field of racial theory and eugenics , which are considered obsolete .

Attitudes and criticism

Bakalář, who studied psychology , drew attention to himself since 1999 at the latest with his publications on various sub-areas of racial theory and eugenics. His theories and statements, which are usually backed up by many sources, studies and specialist literature, have received considerable media coverage. They are not only criticized and attacked, but also received positively precisely because of their apparent scientific nature : “The strength of Petr Bakalář (in contrast to neo-Nazi amateurs) lies in the fact that he does not trumpet his views and attitudes in football stadiums and also not openly racist media, but artfully presented them in the form of 'scientific' findings and 'unbiased' research. "

Published in 2003 his book Bakalář taboo v sociálních vědách (Tabu in the social sciences), the work of about 300 pages with 400 tables, counts and other materials that allegedly prove that the intelligence of the race or ethnicity depends. The racial differences are due to the long-term selection , whereby the genofond was formed. These traits are hereditary and the environment only plays a marginal role. The multicultural society idealized in western civilizations is only a false left and environmentalist notion. The criticism of his book, which also deals extensively with Judaism as an "evolutionary group strategy" and takes the biological and genetically caused racial differences (including the skull measurements) as given, also included the accusation that he selects the sources and leaves facts and publications aside that contradict him.

His other work, Psychologie Romů (The Psychology of the Roma, 2004), is no less controversial. Bakalář generalizes and postulates that the Roma belong to the so-called “ Europid race”, but their evolutionary history led to a selection of genes that are characteristic of the so-called “ Negroid race ”, which then equates to a lower intelligence (and subsequently higher crime). Especially in view of the excited discussions caused by the attacks on the Roma population in the Czech Republic, his statements that the “lower intelligence” of the Roma population is “genetically determined” are dangerous to prejudice. In doing so, Bakalář disregards other evidence that might suggest the opposite.

Bakalář's publications are compared in the Czech media with the publication of Hitler's Mein Kampf in Czech, the Czech Jewish community describes them as “an attack on human rights and the tolerance of minorities”, and his scientific approach is described as repulsive and unnatural. Petr Bakalář replied to this criticism by pointing out that there are people who suffer from an “Auschwitz complex” and react to every mention of the terms eugenics, Roma or Jew with “such an associative chain Hitler - concentration camp - genocide”.
