Petra Durgardein

Petra Dugardein (born April 14, 1977 in Zierikzee ) is a former Dutch soccer goalkeeper . She last played for Willem II from Tilburg in the Eredivisie and guarded the national team's goal four times .

Club career

Dugardein first played for VV Zierikzee in her hometown. Via Wik '57 she came to SC 't Zand from Tilburg, with whom she played in the Hoofdklasse , the top division of women's football at the time. With the introduction of the women's eredivisie in 2007, she moved to Willem II, where she was active for two years. After the European Championship in 2009 , she ended her career.

National team

Dugardein is a soldier in the Dutch armed forces with the rank of corporal 1st class and played in the military selection of her country, with which she became world champion in the United States in 2004. It was not until the age of 31 that she was appointed to the senior national team by bond coach Vera Pauw . She made her debut with the Leeuwinnen on May 4, 2008. In the 2-2 draw against China , she was substituted on for Loes Geurts when the score was 1-0 after half- time. Until her retirement in September 2009, she was in goal in three more international matches. She was part of the Dutch squad at the 2009 European Championship, but was not used in Finland.
