Petra Fietzek

Petra Fietzek (born in Engels , also Petra Engels-Fietzek ; * 1955 in Frankfurt ) is a German writer and poet . She was best known as an author of books for children and young people as well as through spiritual literature.

Life

After finishing school in Frankfurt, Berlin and Aachen, Petra Fietzek studied German, art history and philosophy in Cologne. She taught at high schools for five years. She has been working as a freelance writer since 1985. She published a variety of books for children and young people, as well as volumes of poetry and prose for adults. Petra Fietzek runs writing workshops and reads from her books in libraries and schools etc. The author completed training in biblio and poetry therapy at the FPI. She is a member of the Association of German Writers (VS), the Catholic Women's Community of Germany (kfd) and Soroptimist International (SI).

Since 1995 Petra Fietzek has written and spoken spiritual programs, mainly morning prayers, for WDR, Deutschlandfunk and Deutsche Welle.

She lives with her family in Coesfeld (Westphalia). She was married to the former high school art teacher and freelance painter Rainer Fietzek (1941–2009). The couple have two daughters. Rainer Fietzek illustrated her book Das Papafest (1996). Petra Fietzek donated the paintings of the Passions cycle of her deceased husband to the diocese of Münster .
