Petri Kokko (born February 1, 1975 in Oulu ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player who was last under contract with HC Energie Karlovy Vary in the Czech extra league .
Career
Petri Kokko began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior division of Kärpät Oulu , for whose professional team he made his debut in the I divisioona, the second Finnish division, in the 1993/94 season. In 32 games he scored three goals and gave six templates, whereupon he was obliged shortly before the end of the season by Ilves Tampere from the SM-liiga . The defender was a regular at Ilves for two years. He then moved to Kiruna IF in the second Swedish division for a year . From 1997 to 1999 he was on the ice for SaiPa Lappeenranta in the SM-liiga before he tried a second attempt in the second Swedish division, this time at Tingsryd AIF , in the 1999/2000 season . From 2000 to 2006 Kokko was again a regular at SaiPa Lappeenranta in the SM-liiga. Only the 2003-04 season he finished with the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers of the Swiss National League A . With Rapperswil he achieved relegation relegation.
From 2006 to 2008, the former Finnish junior international played for Timrå IK in the Swedish Elitserien . For the 2008/09 season he received a contract with the Espoo Blues from the SM-liiga. With the team he also took part in the Champions Hockey League at European level . After he started the following season in Espoo, he moved to Brynäs IF from the Elitserien in November 2009 . There he completed only eight games by the end of the season, after which he was active in the 2010/11 season for HC Energie Karlovy Vary from the Czech extra league. There he had a regular place from the start and scored six points, four of which were goals, in 46 games. After HC Energie's elimination in the pre-playoffs, his contract was not extended.
International
For Finland , Kokko took part in the junior division at the U18 European Junior Championship in 1993 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 1995 .
