Petrovichi ( Russian Петровичи ) is a village (derevnja) in the Russian Oblast of Smolensk .
geography
The village is located in the southern part of the oblast, almost 100 km as the crow flies south of Smolensk and 20 km from the border with Belarus , on the Chornaya Nemka (Black Nemka), a source of the right-hand Ostjor tributary Nemka.
It belongs to Shumyachi Raion and is a good 20 km northwest of its administrative center Shumyachi . Together with 20 other localities (total population 795, as of October 14, 2010) it belongs to the rural community Russkowskoje selskoje posselenije, whose administrative seat Russkoye is about 15 km southeast of Petrovichi.
A local road runs past the village to the east and connects the Shumyatschi district center (not far from the A101 highway ) via Russkoye to the center of the neighboring district of Chislavichi on the R53 regional road.
