Petru Stoianov
Petru Stoianov (born October 29, 1939 in Vinga , Arad County ) is a Romanian composer and musicologist .
Life
From 1963 to 1964 Stoianov studied music theory, choral conducting and music history in Arad with Nicolae Brânzeu , then in 1969 at the George Enescu Conservatory in Iași, music theory with Adrian Diaconu , harmony and composition with Anton Zeman , counterpoint with Vasile Spătărelu , music history with George Pascu , folk music with George Pascu Gheorghe Ciobanu , choir director with Ion Pavalache and piano with Ion Welt . This was followed by a licensed degree in music education and composition at the former Ciprian Porumbescu Conservatory with Anatol Vieru (composition), Florin Eftimescu (harmony), Nicolae Buicliu and Dinu Ciocan (counterpoint), Tudor Ciortea (form theory), Ovmaidiu Varga and Octavian Lazăr (Music history), Emilia Comișel (folk music), George Bălan (musical aesthetics), Vinicius Grefiens (score reading ), Aurel Stroe (instrumentation and orchestration), Marin Constantin (choir director) and Grete Gabriel Ionescu (piano).
Until 1989 Stoianov worked as a professor at the Școala de Muzică și Arte Plastice nr. 2 in Bucharest. He then worked until 1998 as music inspector at the Bucharest Municipal School Inspectorate and until 2001 at the Ministry of Education. From 2000 to 2004 he was Vice Dean of the Music Faculty of the National Music University in Bucharest, since then he has been Professor and Vice Dean of the Music Faculty of Spiru Haret University .
Since 1993 Stoianov has been vice-president of the Romanian committee of Jeunesses Musicales International and founder and musical director of the international competitions of Jeunesses Musicales in Bucharest. In addition, he worked in the 1990s as director, executive director and advisor at the Săptămâna Internațională a Muzicii Noi (International Week for Contemporary Music) in Bucharest.
