Petrus Edeling

Petrus Edeling (also: Peter Edeling ) (* 1522 in Pasewalk , Pomerania; † January 16, 1602 in Kolberg ) was a Lutheran theologian and as Reformation superintendent of the diocese of Cammin (Kolberg-Cammin Abbey).

Live and act

In 1549 Petrus Adam was a singing teacher in Greifswald, where he earned the degree of master's degree. In 1557 he took over a pastor's position in his hometown Pasewalk .

On August 30, 1567, Petrus Edeling was appointed superintendent (the designation general superintendent came up later) of the diocese of Cammin, succeeding Georg Venetus . On April 25, 1568 he was introduced to his office in Kolberg Cathedral , which he held until his death at the age of 80.

Petrus Edeling became famous with an order from Duke Casimir IX. Visits to churches, schools and social institutions made by Pommern-Wolgast .

His successor in office was Adam Hamel .
