Petrus Franciscus Greive
Petrus Franciscus Greive (born March 25, 1811 in Amsterdam ; † November 4, 1872 there ) was a Dutch genre painter and art teacher as well as draftsman and lithographer.
Greive was born to Johannes Franciscus Greive and Johanna Catharina Geertruida Marmé.
Greive studied at the Koninklijke Akademie van Beeldende Kunsten (Amsterdam) with Jean Augustin Daiwaille , Johan Willem Pieneman and Christiaan Julius Lodewijk Portman .
Greive was a member of the artists' association " Arti et Amicitiae ". He was appointed professor at the Amsterdam Art Academy. The educational activity left him little time for his own work. He mostly painted genre pictures in the style of old Dutch masters.
His students included u. a. Meijer de Haan , August Allebé , Johannes Cornelis van Essen , Hendrik Jacobus Scholten , Pieter Oyens and David Oyens .
From 1832 to 1858 he took part in the Amsterdam art exhibitions.
