Peter Johannes Maan

Petrus Johannes Maan (* 1913 in Amsterdam , † 1993 in Arnhem ) was a Dutch Old Catholic clergyman, theologian and church politician.

Life

He was the son of Engelbertus Albertus Maan and his wife Trijntje Duin. Petrus Johannes Maan studied theology at the Old Catholic Seminary in Amersfoort and at the Universities of Bern and Basel . The ordination he received in 1938. He then worked as a chaplain in Allschwil and Amersfoort before 1941 at the Old Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Bern for Dr.theol doctorate was. From 1944 he was professor of New Testament exegesis at the seminary in Amersfoort, from 1946 pastor at St. Gertrudis Cathedral in Utrecht and a member of the Metropolitan Chapter of the Old Catholic Archdiocese of Utrecht . As dean of the chapter, he was accredited for the Old Catholic Church as an observer at the Second Vatican Council . From March 28 to April 4, 1962, he accompanied Archbishop Andreas Rinkel of Utrecht and the Swiss Bishop Urs Küry on an official visit by the Orthodox Patriarch of Constantinople Athenagoras . From 1970 to 1980 he was pastor in Arnhem.
