Coat of arms and motto

The divided and split shield shows the monastery coat of arms twice, the red St. George's cross on a silver background, and two personal attributes.

In the upper field the crossed silver keys of the Apostle Peter on a red background: The representation of the keys corresponds to that in the coat of arms of the former monastery of Cluny in French Burgundy. Provost Petrus was often in this area, which is also home to the Taizé Community .

In the lower field is a silver scallop shell on a red background: This pilgrimage sign shows that we are all on the way to God. Propst Petrus walked the Way of St. James from Herzogenburg to Santiago in 2016 . The lines of the shell run towards a common goal and symbolize that we are moving towards Eternal Home.

The motto “Corde ardente” translates as “with a burning heart”. On the one hand it is a tribute to the religious father Augustine , whose attribute is the burning heart. On the other hand, it refers to the gospel of Emmaus .

The insignia surrounding the coat of arms indicate the provost's pontifical rights .
