Maximilian Fürnsinn
Maximilian J. Fürnsinn CanReg (born May 5, 1940 in Herzogenburg , Lower Austria ) is a Roman Catholic religious . From 1979 to 2019 he was the 68th provost of Herzogenburg Abbey .
Life
Maximilian Fürnsinn, the son of a butcher family , also learned his parents' profession for the time being, although his desire to become a priest already existed in elementary school. He worked for three years in his father's company as the third best in the journeyman's examination in Lower Austria. He graduated from high school in Horn and then entered Herzogenburg Abbey. He studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the religious college in Klosterneuburg and in Vienna and was ordained a priest in 1972 .
At the Herzogenburg Abbey he initially worked as a chaplain, novice master and building authority director. In 1979 he was elected 68th provost and 17th Lateranian abbot in Herzogenburg. The Benediction donated to him by the Bishop of St. Pölten Franz Žak . His motto is Christ, qui habitat in nobis ("Christ who dwells in us"). In 1989, 1999 and 2009 he was re-elected for ten years.
From 1981 to 2008 he was chairman of the Lower Austrian Abbots' Conference and chairman of the Order Conference of the Diocese of St. Pölten . From 1998 to 2013 he was also chairman of the Austrian Superior Conference of Men's Orders .
Fürnsinn was invested in Graz on June 22, 1991 as a Grand Officer in the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem . Since 1990 he has been the prior for the Commandery St. Pölten. From 1996 to 2008 Maximilian Fürnsinn was Grand Prior of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, from October 2008 Grand Prior emeritus and from 2009 Honorary Grand Prior. He is also an honorary member of the KAV Danubia Wien-Korneuburg, the K.Ö.HV Nordgau Wien and the KAV Norica Wien in the ÖCV as well as the KAV Capitolina zu Rom in the CV and the K.Ö.St.V. Vindobona II in the MKV .
On April 9, 2019, Petrus Stockinger was elected as successor to Fürnsinn as the 69th provost of Herzogenburg Abbey.
