Petrus Wesenbeck

Petrus Wesenbeck, (born May 5, 1546 in Antwerp , † August 27, 1603 in Coburg ) was a Flemish lawyer.

Life

Matthias Wesenbeck's cousin studied at the University of Leipzig , where he obtained the academic degree of a master's degree . On October 27, 1569 he came to Wittenberg and in 1570 was appointed professor at the University of Jena . There he earned his doctorate in law on February 20, 1574 and transferred to the law faculty on July 4, 1575.

In 1587 he went to the University of Wittenberg , where he gave lectures on the Codex in the law faculty. During his tenure in Wittenberg he was rector of the university in 1591 , but had to leave there after the representatives of Lutheran orthodoxy established themselves in Wittenberg.

He found a new job at the University of Altdorf on September 16, 1592 as a professor and senior in the law faculty. On September 1, 1598 he was appointed full professor at the Schöppenstuhl in Coburg, where he was the first assessor at the court. As a privy councilor for Reich Chamber affairs, he had the right to hold lectures at the grammar school established there. As a Calvinist he was released from the denomination and was reaffirmed in his office.
