Petunia reitzii is a plant type from the genus of petunia ( Petunia ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae). It is an herbaceous plant thatis nativeto Brazil .

description

Petunia reitzii is an herbaceous , branching, widely spreading plant. The stems are prostrate to ascending, flexible to knee-shaped. The leaves are almost sessile, protruding from the stems and narrowly lanceolate. The base is pointed, the leaf blade is 25 to 40 mm long and 7 mm wide and membranous.

The flowers are on 28 mm long peduncles . The calyx is sticky tomentose, the calyx tube is about 2 mm long and covered with unequal length, narrow linear, about 15 mm long and 0.7 mm wide calyx tips. The crown is colored red-purple and 45 mm long. The corolla tube is narrow, funnel-shaped, the corolla lobes rounded triangular. The stamens do not protrude beyond the crown.

The stems are bent back on the fruit. The capsule is narrowly elliptical, pointed and 7 mm long.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 14.

Occurrence

The locations are in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina at an altitude of around 1000 m.

Botanical history

The species was in 1964 using a 1948 copy collected by Lyman Bradford Smith and Robert Jack Downs firstdescribed . The art epithet honors the collector of the type specimen Raulino Reitz .
