history

In 1796 a branch church was equipped with the assets of the abandoned hermitage on the Wiesele. The current church was built between 1789 and 1792. The church was elevated to a parish church in 1891. Renovations were in 1943 and 1964/1974.

architecture

The simple late baroque church building with arched windows has a three-bay nave and a slightly retracted single-bay choir with a triangle closure. The tower north of the choir has an eight-sided bell storey with two cornices with an onion helmet and lantern. To the east of the choir is the sacristy annex.

The interior of the church has a pilaster structure with barrel vaults with stitch caps and a rounded triumphal arch. The ceiling paintings Baptism of Christ, the four Evangelists, Assumption of Mary, were created by the painters Johann Kärle and Stefan Kärle (1879).

Furnishing

The church has a remarkable baroque altar decoration from the second quarter of the 18th century, which was transferred here from the church on the Wiesele. Stephan Föger created the carved figures.

The organ was built by Franz Weber (1871) and later changed. There is a bell from 1700.
