The parish church of Flattach is located in the municipality of Flattach in the Spittal an der Drau district in Carinthia . The apostle St. The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to Matthias belongs to the dean's office in Obervellach in the diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt . The church and the walled cemetery are under monument protection ( list entry ).
history
One church was mentioned in documents in 1504. The church was renovated in 1746. The tower was built in 1794 and the nave was extended in 1786. In 1857 there was a restoration. In 1957 the tower helmet was changed.
architecture
The church building has a simple nave, which was extended in 1796, with a west tower and a Gothic choir with a five-eighth end .
A choir with a ridge vault and a pilaster structure adjoins the single - nave, three-axle nave under a flat ceiling with a round arched triumphal arch .
The ceiling paintings, in the choir of Ascension , in the nave of Adoration of the Shepherds were created in the late 18th century and were later heavily restored.
Furnishing
The high altar with sacrificial portals and swinging side parts was built around 1840, it carries the altarpiece Christ and Mary Magdalene in a romantic landscape with a ruined column by the painter Brandstätter.
The rest of the furnishings are in the form of neo-renaissance . The simple pulpit from the second quarter of the 18th century was changed in 1777, it shows the four evangelists as inlay on the parapet and the rococo figure Good Shepherd on the crown . There is a large group of guardian angels from the first half of the 19th century and several pictures from the same period.
The organ with a free pipe prospect is modern.
Guardian Angel Chapel
In the town center there is a baroque guardian angel chapel with a carved guardian angel .
