The parish church of Flirsch stands on the western edge of the village in the municipality of Flirsch in the Landeck district in Tyrol . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to the Apostle Bartholomew , belongs to the Deanery of Zams in the Diocese of Innsbruck . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The church was mentioned in a document in 1385. In 1482 the side altars were consecrated. In 1751 the church was rededicated after a renovation. In 1811 the church was renovated and expanded to the west. The church was a branch of the parish church of St. Jakob am Arlberg and was elevated to a parish church in 1891. The interior was renovated from 1973 to 1974.

architecture

The baroque church building with a simple nave under a gable roof has a recessed polygonal choir. The tower on the north side of the choir has round-arched sound windows with an east balcony with a bulged iron grille and at the end a blown gable with an onion helmet and lantern from 1821. The west facade with a composite gable bears the figure of the Good Shepherd from the 19th century in a niche . The sacristy was added to the south.

The interior of the church shows a four-bay nave with arched windows under a vaulted concrete barrel with stitch caps on pilasters and flat straps. The two-storey gallery on iron posts is from the 19th century. Behind the round-arched triumphal arch, the choir adjoins with a square groin-vaulted choir yoke and a 3/8 end. The ceiling paintings by the painter Josef Leopold Strickner from 1812 show St. Bartholomew before Christ and in the nave the torture, the sermon and the miraculous healing of St. Bartholomew.

Furnishing

The three altars were created in 1851. The high altar bears the figure of a late Gothic Madonna around 1520 and the figures of Saints Bartholomew and Barbara by Josef Georg Witwer from the middle of the 18th century. The excerpt shows the picture Trinity . The left side altar shows the baroque altar sheet Rapture of Maria Magdalena around 1770 and the upper image of the Heart of Jesus . The right side altar shows the altarpiece Madonna and Jesus and poor souls from the 19th century and in the upper picture the Heart of Mary . An altarpiece allegory Redemption of the Poor Souls by Franz Firler from 1757 is in safekeeping.

The pulpit is from the second half of the 19th century. The ambo consists of parts from around 1800. Josef Georg Witwer created two male saints. The crucifix is ​​from the beginning of the 18th century. The two canvas paintings Anna selbdritt and Josef with child are from the end of the 18th century. The Mariahilf picture in a carved frame was created around 1800. The station pictures are from the first quarter of the 19th century.

Josef Behmann built the organ in 1906.

Chapel of the Dead

The mortuary chapel west of the parish church with semicircular windows under a barrel vault with a round apse was built in 1841. The tabernacle-like altar is from 1730. The figures of Christ with the scourge column, Mary and John stand in niches.
