Building description

Outside

The parish church of St. Kreuz is a uniform, classicistic, north-facing building that was erected in 1801 after the approval for the construction of the parish was granted in 1799. The old church on the site of today's rectory was demolished in 1798. The single-nave church with pilaster strips has a south tower and a slightly drawn-in, arched, closed choir. A wicker-arched low chapel lies on the west side; to the east a two-storey sacristy extension with a staircase to the pulpit under a pent roof. The nave and choir have rounded edges, arched windows, a profiled eaves cornice and a tiled gable roof. The three-storey tower rises between the gables with vase attachments. Its bell floor is equipped with corner pilasters and arched sound windows. It is crowned by a pyramid roof with clock gables. At the top of the tower there is a tower ball with a cross. The banded basement is accessible through a rectangular portal. Above this is a segmented niche with figures.

Inside

Above the four-bay nave there are square vaults over belt arches on pilasters . A flat arch on two square pillars supports the west gallery with a slightly protruding parapet . In the retracted choir, an arched opening in the west provides access to the chapel.

Furnishing

The high altar from around 1800 was made by Martin Grassinger . It is a classical aedicule altar made of stucco marble with a painted wall structure. A baroque wooden crucifix from around 1730, which was probably made by Georg Raphael Donner , is installed in a flat niche . On the side there are angel figures. On the masonry altar table is a marbled wooden tabernacle with columns from around 1800. The painted cartouche top shows God the Father with a dove in the middle picture.

The neo-baroque side altars date from the end of the 19th century.

Polychromed wooden figures of Saints Sebastian , Rochus and Rosalia from the beginning of the 18th century stand on rolled up consoles .

The marbled pulpit dates from the end of the 19th century. The grooved bowl of the font from the end of the 18th century is on a baluster . Some canvas prints complete the equipment:

Christ on the Cross with Mater Dolorosa , a Fegefeuerszene , the Holy Theresa and John of Nepomuk called "Fuxeder 1845" , Christ on the Cross from the second half of the 19th century and the image of Maria Dreieichen called "1861" .

organ

The organ was made by Franz Capek in Krems an der Donau .
