Grossraming Parish Church

The Roman Catholic parish church Großraming stands on the northern edge of the center of the community Großraming in the Steyr-Land district in Upper Austria . It is consecrated to St. James and, together with the parishes of Gaflenz , Kleinreifling , Maria Neustift and Weyer, forms the Weyer Pastoral Care Association in the Weyer deanery . The church is a listed building .

history

The parish of Großraming was first mentioned in a document in 1200. In 1392 it was elevated to a parish church. The oldest parts of today's church date from 1513.

Church building

The church consists of a late Gothic single-nave and four-bay nave with a ribbed vault . In 1936 it was extended by a yoke to the west. The baroque choir from 1691 has two bays and is semi-elliptical. In the choir there are grinded needle cap barrels with remarkable frescoes from 1759. They were created in the workshop of Bartholomäus Altomonte . To the south of the nave is a church tower from 1515 with a baroque helmet from 1739.

Furnishing

According to the document, the high altar was erected in 1691 and fundamentally changed in 1759 and made more rich. The high altar sheet was painted by Johann Karl von Reslfeld in 1691. The sculptures are probably by Marian Rittinger . The side altar with a newer statue of the Heart of Jesus and the pulpit were built in 1736. The altar in the chapel to the south was built at the same time. In the choir there is a statue of St. Florian from 1743. The font is Gothic.

The bell is rarely beautiful and ornate. It was cast in 1522.
