Parish church Großwarasdorf
The Roman Catholic parish church Großwarasdorf stands on a hill at the western end of the village in the village of Großwarasdorf ( Croatian Veliki Borištof , Hungarian Szufabadbáránd ) in the Oberpullendorf district in Burgenland . It is consecrated to St. Demetrius and belongs to the Croatian deanery Großwarasdorf .
history
The church was already a parish before 1383. The current building dates from the first half of the 18th century. Restorations took place in 1859 and 1958.
architecture
The church has a single nave with a retracted choir that has just been completed. There are buttresses on the western front . The west tower in front is three-story with a stone pyramid helmet. The three- bay nave has a cross vault . The three-axis gallery has a bulged wooden parapet. A narrow triumphal arch separates the choir from the nave. The choir is capped .
Furnishing
The high altar, made up of two cranked entablature pieces over two columns and pilasters, belongs to the furnishings from the mid-18th century . The altarpiece shows St. Demetrius. On the side there are carved figures of Saints Peter and Paul , Saint King Stephen and Saint Ladislaus . In the essay is a sculptural group of the Holy Trinity . The structure of the two side altars resembles the high altar. The left has a picture of Saint Joseph and is flanked by figures of Saints Sebastian and Rochus . The right side altarpiece shows the Immaculate and is represented by side figures of St. Joachim and St. Anna flanked.
The baroque pulpit is decorated with seated figures of the evangelists. St. Michael can be seen on the cover plate. There is also a wooden baptismal font with a small plastic group of Anabaptists and a wooden crucifix from the 18th century on the right side wall. The carved figure “Maria with Child” on the left wall dates from the first half of the 19th century.
Friedrich Seltenhofer from Sopron cast a bell in 1838.
