The Grundlsee parish church in the Bräuhof district in Grundlsee is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Liezen district in the state of Styria . It is consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus . The Grundlsee parish, together with the Altaussee and Bad Aussee parishes, form a parish association in the Upper Ennstal dean's office - Styrian Salzkammergut .

history

In 1882 a committee consisting of 14 men was founded to build a church in Grundlsee. The committee included the Count of Meran , Count Kesselstatt and Prince Kinsky and their families. These families bore the brunt of the financial burden of building the church. On November 19, 1888, Dean Dr. Köberl presented the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone.

The building was built in the neo-Gothic style according to plans by Robert Mikovics under the direction of the builder Max Cordignano from Bad Aussee . On September 15, 1889, the tower cross was put on. On June 12, 1890, the three bells weighing 176, 87, 5 and 48 kg were consecrated and raised. The solemn consecration of the church took place the following day.

The church was initially a branch church of the Bad Aussee parish and was elevated to a parish church in 1952 under Pastor Valentin Feiner.

The tower clock came from the so-called "Troadhüttn", the court box on Chlumeckyplatz in Bad Aussee, which was removed in 1886. This clock was replaced by an electrically operated one in 1957 and later replaced by a radio-controlled clock. The bell was electrified in 1970. The stone weights with iron rings from the court case clock are still standing as curbs on the church square today.

Architecture and equipment

The neo-Gothic interior is largely from the turn of the century (time of construction). In 1977 a people's altar was built from a part of the original high altar, the original middle part is now the sacrament house on the right side of the church.

The statues in the chancel represent Jesus , Margareta Maria Alacoque , Notburga and Antonius of Padua . Next to the sacrament house there are figures of Joseph and Mary . These wood-carved statues, like the relief image “Our Lady of the Passion” on the left side of the nave and the 14 stations of the cross, are works from Val Gardena . The figure of the "Madonna on the Globe" is a donation from Countess Czernin von und zu Chudenitz and most likely dates from the second half of the 16th century. In the choir there are three windows from the glass workshop in Innsbruck . The left window shows the crucified with the Virgin Mary, Maria Salome , the Apostle John and a Roman centurion. The second shows the scene of the Mount of Olives. The third window, a foundation by Ferdinand Potnik, is a representation of St. Barbara with miners.

Since Easter 2000, the parish church has been equipped with an organ from Rieger from Schwarzach (Vorarlberg) on the initiative of Pastor Anton Steinwender .
