The construction of the parish church began in the first half of the 13th century. The presbytery is the older part of the church, extensions and additions in the following two years gave the church its current appearance.
The choir with ribbed vault and five-eighth closure still belongs to the early Gothic period . The six-part vault is a rarity. The three-bay nave with ribbed vaulting, the two side portals and the massive, 32-meter-high tower date from the late Gothic period .
Only a remnant of the wall that once surrounded the fortified church remains on the south side above the rectory.
The sacristy , organ loft and two niches in the side aisles, in which the confessionals are located, were added in the Baroque period . The baroque furnishings created around this time were replaced by the neo-Gothic furnishings under dean Josef Ertl from 1890 to 1906. Several windows also belong to the neo-Gothic style.
The interior of the church also contains noteworthy tombs from the years 1584, 1611 and 1613, which are attached to the church wall behind the high altar and in the tower niche.
