Catholic parish church of St. Stephen in Krenglbach

The Roman Catholic parish church of Krenglbach is located in the municipality of Krenglbach in the Wels-Land district in Upper Austria . It is consecrated to St. Stephen and belongs to the Deanery Wels-Land in the Diocese of Linz . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

The church was first mentioned in a document in 985. The late baroque hall church was built around 1777.

Church exterior

The church is a late baroque hall church. The mighty late Gothic church tower has a baroque onion helmet .

Church interior

There is a flat ceiling over the nave. This is followed by a drafted, two-bay choir with a straight degree. There is a cross vault above the choir .

Furnishing

The furnishings are neo-baroque . On the west gallery is a painting of the "Lamentation of Christ". It is a copy after Anthony van Dyck . The frame dates from the 1720s. A high-quality copy of the Annunciation hangs in the nave. It was painted around 1630 by a painter close to Jakob Jordaens . The frame dates from the middle of the 18th century. The font with a figural group of the "Baptism of Christ" was created in 1613. In the sacristy is a baroque nativity scene from the 1710s. It is protected by an excellent, richly carved glass shrine from the time the nativity scene was built.
