history

inside view

A previous building of the church was built in 1488 under Gotthard von Starhemberg . The church burned down in 1626 during the Upper Austrian Peasant War . It was rebuilt, but fell into disrepair again over the next few decades.

That is why the church was built between 1693 and 1695 by rebuilding or adapting the previous building as a high baroque, three-bay hall church by Carlo Antonio Carlone with a square choir and an extremely high central tower on the west facade.

The high altar was designed by Georg Wilhelm Wagner around 1700, the stucco putti and coats of arms by Bartolomeo Carlone , the altar paintings are by Friedrich Wutschl from 1895. The organ comes from the organ building workshop Führer in Wilhelmshaven (Germany) and was built in 1999.
