Parish church Reisach

The Reisach parish church in the village of Reisach in the Kirchbach im Gailtal community is consecrated to Saints Peter and Paul . In 1355 Reisach was named as a vicariate.

The church is a late Classicist building from 1850 with a four-bay nave and a slightly retracted choir with a three-eighth end. The tower on the north side with slits in the wall and arched sound windows is crowned by a pointed helmet erected in the 20th century. A Gothic vault from the previous building has been preserved on the first floor of the tower . There is a high sacristy extension between the tower and the choir. The church facade is structured by a meander frieze , pilaster strips and arched windows.

Inside, a flat barrel vault with stitch caps rests on pilasters . Felix Barazzutti painted the vault with neo-baroque paintings in 1888 . The three romanized altars date from the same period. The early classicist pulpit was built in the first quarter of the 19th century. The organ was built by Josef Grafenauer in 1856.
