history

According to legend, a swallow announced the place of the church with blood-soaked wood chips when the settlers from Hauning-Dorf wanted to build a small church.

The first church, which was built around 1050 in the Romanesque style, soon became too small. As early as 1361, reports were made of the consecration of a Gothic parish church, which is said to have had a lot of resemblance to St. Leonhard near Kundl . Capacity problems and decay led to the church being demolished some 400 years after its inauguration.

A new parish church was built from 1764 and consecrated in 1771. The late Baroque church that was created is one of the most beautiful churches in the Alpine region. St. Peter and Paul is equipped with an imposing high altar and four side altars. The numerous frescoes were created by the Schwaz master Christoph Anton Mayr . The bell ensemble was last expanded in 1948. The organ was installed in 1982.

The parish church is both the cemetery church for the surrounding cemetery and the center of the village. In front of the church there is a small chapel, which commemorates the fallen of the two world wars.
