The Roman Catholic parish church Schnann is located in the village of Schnann in the municipality of Pettneu am Arlberg in the Landeck district in Tyrol . It is consecrated to Saint Roch and belongs to the Deanery of Zams in the Diocese of Innsbruck . The building is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The church was built as a plague church in 1633 and renovated in the first half of the 18th century. The extensions and renovations took place in 1927 with the architect Karl Paulmichl . In 1927 the parish was raised. A restoration took place between 1961 and 1963.

architecture

Exterior description

The church is a baroque building with a round apse and a north tower with coupled sound windows and pointed arch windows. Above it is a gable-pointed helmet. The Vorhallenjoch in the west dates from 1927. The arched portal with keystone is marked 1789 . The canopy rests on pillars.

Inside description

The nave has four bays and is structured by pilasters. Above it is a needle cap barrel vault. A retracted triumphal arch divides the choir from the nave. The choir yoke is square in plan and vaulted. The apse is designed as a round apse. The windows are designed as round windows with stucco framing. The vault is simply stuccoed. The ceiling paintings date from the last quarter of the 18th century and are attributed to Johann Georg Witwer . In the choir, the “Communion of the Apostles” is shown with an illusionistic dome. The four evangelists can be found in the spandrels. In the nave, Saint Rochus of Montpellier is shown as the patron saint of the sick, Saints Rochus, Sebastian and Maria as intercessors, the death of Saint Rochus and the four church fathers.

Furnishing

The high altar dates from the third quarter of the 18th century with carved figures of Saints Rochus, Paulus , Peter , Sebastian and Florian . In the extract the Holy Trinity is shown. On the left side altar there is a figure of Mary and baroque statues of Saint Martin and a bishop from the third quarter of the 18th century. On the right side altar there are carved figures of guardian angels. They are attributed to Josef Georg Witwer . There are also figures of Saints John the Baptist and Joseph on this altar . The pulpit dates from the second half of the 18th century. The crucifix is from the beginning of the 18th century. The figure "Christ at the hostage column" comes from the first half of the 18th century.
