The Tauplitz parish church is a Roman Catholic church in the center of the Tauplitz community in the Liezen district in Styria . It is consecrated to the Holy Cross and, together with the parishes of Bad Mitterndorf and Kumitz, forms a parish association in the dean's office of Upper Ennstal - Styrian Salzkammergut . The church is a listed building .

history

In 1752 a mission station against Protestantism was built in Tauplitz . A new building took place in 1785, the elevation to an independent parish in 1788. The church was restored in 1923, 1955 and 1973. On the occasion of the 200-year-old church, a general renovation and restoration of the church took place in 1984 under Pastor Anton Decker.

Church building

The nave is two-bay and has square vaults between belt arches . These are decorated with stucco moldings. The two-bay choir is drawn in opposite the nave and has a straight end with bevelled corners . It is spanned by the Platzl vault. A low sacristy annex adjoins it. The nave closes off a west gallery. At the western end of the roof there is a ridge turret with an onion helmet .

Furnishing

The high altar , built in 1788 by the wood sculptor and painter Johann Fortschegger , was restored and re-gilded in 1891; The figures of St. Peter and St. Paul were acquired from Val Gardena . Martin Johann Schmidt (Kremser Schmidt) painted the oval picture "Christ on the Cross" in 1787.

The pulpit by Johann Fortschegger was removed and the side altars were renewed in 1893, whereby the originally baroque statues were carved over. While the Sacred Heart statue comes from more recent times, the Gothic cross with the crucified and the statues of Maria and Johannes date from between 1440 and 1550. In the church interior there are also 15 late Baroque rural cross-path pictures by an unknown painter, painted on wooden panels .

The organ was built in 1858 by Franz Hötzel .
