The Roman Catholic parish church Telfs-Schlichtling is in the market town of Telfs in Tyrol . The parish church of the Holy Spirit is part of the Telfs deanery in the Innsbruck diocese .

history

In 1998 the decision was made to build an anniversary church with a parish center in the newly planned social housing complex in Telfs-Schlichtling at the turn of the millennium. The foundation stone was laid on June 10, 2000. The church was built from 2000 to 2002 according to the plans of the architects Peter Thurner and Paul Senfter. The parish church was consecrated to the Holy Spirit by Diocesan Bishop Alois Kothgasser on October 26, 2002.

architecture

The church is an elliptical monolith with a free-standing steeple. The visitor enters the elliptical church space through a light-flooded, spacious foyer, which is closed off and dominated by a filigree wooden ceiling construction. The pedestal-like altar area is a paraventartige emphasized altar wall. The organ gallery is above the entrance area. The pews form two blocks. A skylight window along the entire church wall serves as a natural light source. The artist Maurizio Bonato created twelve semi-transparent church windows close to the floor in the apse wall and a 112-part glass floor frieze along the church wall and twelve picture panels on the choir wall, all of the cycles thematize the Holy Spirit. The artist Chryseldis Hofer-Mitterer designed the window of the baptistery.

Furnishing

The wooden altar table is in the symmetry of the altar pedestal and contains relics from Father Jakob Gapp , Pastor Otto Neururer and Sister Edith Stein . Ambo, cafeteria and tabernacle are in one line. The baptismal font is in the baptistery at the entrance. The tabernacle is the work of the blacksmith Josef Kölbinger.

The figure of the Madonna, carved from linden wood around 1500/1510 as the presumed central figure of a former winged altar, was transferred here from Mannswörth in Lower Austria.
