Phaeophyscia orbicularis is a species of leaf lichen that isvery common in Central Europeand colonizes tree bark and rocks.

description

The color of the rosette or irregularly shaped thallus is variable, light to dark gray or gray-brown, clearly greenish when moist. On the surface there are often sorals that can become almost heady at the ends of the lobes. Their color varies from grayish-white to blackish, rarely yellowish. Occasionally apothecia with a narrow rim and a dark disc are also formed.

Phaeophyscia orbicularis is one of the most common leaf lichens in Central Europe and is very insensitive to air pollutants and eutrophication. It is widespread in almost all of Europe on the bark of deciduous trees (regularly on poplars, for example ) and on calcareous rock, including concrete .
