action
Teens Mike, Arnie, and Cindy have a party; her parents are not there. On their way home, the parents talk to their children on the phone, but soon the line is dead; they have reached the desert city of Long Hand. When the parents do not return that night, the children go in search of them. A mysterious Indian warns them of the phantom city, which is populated by the dead and can only be entered in a dream.
When they reach Long Hand, Mike, Arnie and Cindy meet residents who dress, behave and talk like they did in 1882. In their search for the missing parents, they discover that the city is a living being that they are to arrest tries. The residents try to persuade them to take an oath that would also make them enslaved undead. With all their strength and courage, the Reeves children fight against the forces of darkness.
criticism
No aspect of the film found favor with the German film critics. Cinema criticized that it "offers such lousy tricks that you almost forget to switch off while laughing". The lexicon of international films wrote: "The attempt to combine motifs from classic horror films with popular family entertainment is based on a holey script and is constantly torpedoed by cheap special effects."
Mark Deming, on the other hand, remarked in the Allrovi “a pinch of unconventional humor”.
Remarks
The film songs Eye of the Hurricane and No Bed of Roses are interpreted by the heavy metal band BLAK .
Some sources give George Schbamer as co-director and 1999 as the year of publication.
